The village is made up of rural constructions, restored and furnished for small apartment vacation get aways and relaxation under the shade of the centennial oak trees. Attached to the Villa, there is a pre-roman church, which according to records existed already in the 8th Century A.D. at the time of the Longobard King, Liutprando. In the surrounding area, Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes are picked after they mature on the sunny hillside. Still today, grapes are selected for the seasonal vine harvest of wines such as Chianti dei Colli Senesi DOCG, table wine and Vin Santo. Tourists come here to rest far away from the noise and smog of the city, where they can relive countless moments with sounds and smells of rural life of another time.

The ancient church of Certano dedicated to Saint Michael Archangel is Romanesque and was built in the 13th century over the place of the pre-existing church donated in 730 A.D. by the Longobard king Liutprand. It is presently a private chapel attached to Villa Certano.
The Wine Cellars
In the estate of Certano there are three cellars of three different historical periods: the big vat-room built in 1906 by ancestor of the Baldassarrini family and still used for the production of Chianti dei Colli Senesi, the cellar with the old barrels and the ancient cellar dug out in tufo rock.
Siena is a medieval town located in central Tuscany and it is of Etruscan origin. Famous for its artistic heritage and for the Palio, the traditional horse race run around Piazza del Campo twice a year by seventeen Contrade, it is surrounded by a stunning landscape full of vineyards and olive groves. Here and there, between cypresses and rolling hills, picturesque villages dot the landscape.
